I like football (Go Hawks), music, my family, and pizza rolls (because are you crazy pizza rolls are fucking amazing). I also think about killing myself daily. Hyperbolic? Maybe. But accurate? Uhhhhh yes. I actually do not hate myself. I acknowledge some very great qualities about myself; I am intelligent. I have drive (oh hi Master’s degree in May). I care for people. I am loyal to a fault. I also have major flaws. I mean…I do want to kill myself. This is an everyday thing. I also am selfish at this…

#MHAWNZ Rā tuarima (rāmere): Refresh your mind #MHAWNZ Rā tuarima (rāmere): Refresh your mind / Whāngaia tō hinengaro

Hinengaro is your mind, heart, conscience, thoughts and feelings. Just like your physical health, your hinengaro needs to be nurtured. Hinengaro is what you do to stimulate and refresh your mind so you can better cope with the ups and downs of life.

A way to refresh my mind and nurture my inner self is through writing. Poetry for me has become a form of expressing my inner most turmoil, heartbreak and disappointments I face. Through writing poetry, I’ve become better equipped at coping with the ups and downs of life as it helps me to navigate my feelings and better understand the complex emotions we face as human beings. - Emma❤️

Taha Tinana is your physical wellbeing - how you grow and care for your body. You should always do your utmost to look after it - as there’s only one of you!

One of the main things that help support my mental health is exercise. Whether it’s getting some fresh air and being amongst nature, going for a run or hiking a mountain. Doing these kinds of activities with friends is good for the soul! - Shannon ❤️

Taking time to stop and connect with the earth supports us to feel grounded. When things around us are overwhelming, coming back to our safe place allows us to find comfort in these uncertain times. - Vic ❤️

Taha Wairua is the spiritual element of well-being. This is mostly seen as faith-based; believing in a higher power which gives you a greater sense of purpose and belonging. For others this could mean taking the time out to meditate, and connect with oneself.

Today I’ve been on placement at Pathways doing mental health support work. I took time out to pause, enjoy a coffee and appreciate the beauty that surrounds me #cherryblossoms - Shannon ❤️
